In 1925, Rinaldo and Ezilda Torre visited family in Lucca, Italy. The two returned home to their native San Francisco with something very important: handwritten recipes, which they used to create authentic flavored syrups. These syrups helped Rinaldo and Ezilda reintroduce the Italian soda to their neighborhood. Years later, our syrup was used to create the world’s first flavored latte! We’ve remained a family-owned company -- adhering to the high quality standards that Rinaldo and Ezilda set over 90 years ago. Each and every syrup, sauce, and smoothie is created with care and pride. That’s a promise from our entire family -- including the more than 100 members that make up the Torani team. We started with just five syrups, and have since grown to a portfolio of over 150 sold around the globe. That’s a lot of flavor! And we’re excited to bring you new taste traditions and flavors as we move forward.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Torani syrup made with real cane sugar or high fructose corn syrup?

Torani uses pure cane sugar as the sweetener base, not high fructose corn syrup, which is a meaningful distinction for shoppers who read ingredient labels. The syrup is also made with natural flavors and cold filtered water, which together produce a cleaner taste profile than most mass market alternatives.

Can I use this syrup as part of a daily wellness or self care routine?

Many people use flavored syrups as a small, intentional ritual, like crafting a calming herbal iced tea at the end of the day, building a magnesium mocktail, or making a morning lemon water with strawberry. The ritual of building a drink slowly can be a mindfulness practice in itself, and having a quality flavoring on hand makes the routine easier to keep.

Does the syrup contain any artificial sweeteners I should avoid for a clean label lifestyle?

The standard Torani syrup line is sweetened with cane sugar and does not contain aspartame, sucralose, or other artificial sweeteners. If you specifically want a sugar free option, Torani does offer a separate sugar free line, but the classic syrup you are looking at is a clean cane sugar formulation.

How many calories are in a typical serving, and how can I use it without overdoing it?

A two tablespoon pour of Torani strawberry syrup is around 80 to 90 calories, almost entirely from cane sugar. For wellness minded users, the trick is to use a measured pump, stick to one flavored drink per day, and balance it with plenty of plain water and lower sugar meals throughout the day.

Is the color in this syrup from natural sources?

Torani formulates with natural colors derived from fruit and vegetable sources rather than synthetic dyes like Red 40. The strawberry syrup gets its bright hue from natural flavoring systems, which is meaningful for people who actively avoid artificial colors in their food and drinks.

Can I use this syrup to cut back on store bought flavored lattes and sodas?

Yes, this is one of the most common wellness use cases. By making your own flavored drinks at home, you avoid the cost, the extra packaging, and the often undisclosed ingredient blends in commercial drinks, while still enjoying a treat that fits your routine.

Are there any common allergens in this syrup?

The strawberry syrup is free from the major food allergens including dairy, nuts, soy, and gluten, which makes it a safe choice for households managing allergies. As always, check the printed label on the specific bottle you receive for the most current allergen information.

How does the natural flavor compare to artificial flavor in terms of aftertaste?

Natural flavoring tends to deliver a softer, more rounded finish without the chemical edge some people notice with artificial flavors. Torani's 90+ year heritage and cafe reputation rest largely on this cleaner taste, which is why the brand is associated with a more premium drinking experience.

Can I use this syrup to support a hydration habit if I find plain water boring?

Yes, a small splash of strawberry syrup turns plain or sparkling water into something you actually look forward to, which is often the difference between meeting your hydration goal and falling short. Many wellness focused people keep a bottle in the fridge specifically for this purpose.

Is this syrup suitable for a plant based or vegan lifestyle?

Yes, the standard Torani cane sugar syrups are vegan friendly and contain no animal derived ingredients, which makes them easy to incorporate into plant based coffee drinks, matcha lattes, and dairy free Italian sodas.

How does drinking a homemade flavored beverage fit into a mindful eating approach?

Building a drink from scratch is an opportunity to slow down, measure intentionally, and savor the result, which mirrors the principles of mindful eating. Choosing a small, measured pour of a quality syrup over an oversized pre sweetened bottle is a small but consistent win for people focused on intentional consumption.

Does Torani test for quality and safety in their manufacturing process?

Torani is a family owned company operating since 1925 and manufactures under established food safety protocols consistent with the beverage industry. Their long history and presence in commercial cafes speak to a consistent quality standard that wellness focused consumers appreciate.

Can I use this syrup in a wind down evening mocktail ritual?

Yes, a strawberry herbal mocktail made with hibiscus tea, a splash of this syrup, and a squeeze of lime is a popular alcohol free evening drink. The act of building a special drink signals to your body that the day is winding down, which can complement a broader bedtime routine.

How does this syrup compare to a flavored water enhancer like Mio?

Torani is a cane sugar based liquid syrup with natural flavors, while most water enhancers use water, artificial sweeteners, and synthetic flavoring. Syrup delivers a richer, more rounded taste and pairs well with coffee, tea, cocktails, and milk, not just water, which makes it more versatile for wellness minded households.

Is the bottle recyclable after I finish the syrup?

Yes, the 25.4 fl oz plastic bottle is widely recyclable through standard curbside programs in most communities. Empty bottles should be rinsed before recycling, which is an easy step that fits well with a low waste, wellness focused kitchen.

Can I pair this syrup with adaptogens or other functional ingredients?

Yes, Torani works well as a flavor base for drinks featuring functional ingredients like mushroom powder, collagen, electrolytes, or L theanine. The cane sugar base and natural strawberry flavor mask the earthier notes of many functional ingredients, which makes your daily routine much easier to stick with.

How do I use Torani strawberry syrup to make an Italian soda at home?

Fill a tall glass with ice, add about 2 tablespoons of Torani strawberry syrup, top with 8 to 10 ounces of chilled club soda, stir gently, and finish with a splash of half and half for a classic strawberry cream Italian soda. Adjust the syrup amount to match your preferred sweetness.

What's the best way to make flavored coffee with this syrup?

Brew a shot of espresso or a strong half cup of coffee, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of strawberry syrup to the bottom of your mug, pour the coffee over the syrup, then add steamed or frothed milk. For iced coffee, combine the syrup with cold coffee, ice, and milk in a shaker or tall glass.

Can I use this syrup in recipes beyond drinks, like baking or desserts?

Yes, strawberry Torani is a popular baking ingredient for frosting, glaze, cupcake batter, sugar cookies, popsicles, and milkshakes. A teaspoon or two adds fruit flavor and a soft pink color to frostings, and it dissolves easily into batters and icings without thinning them out.

Is this syrup compatible with soda makers like SodaStream or Drinkmate?

Yes, the syrup is fully compatible with any home soda maker. Flavor the carbonated water after it leaves the machine by adding the syrup to your glass first or pouring it in and stirring, since adding syrup to the carbonating bottle can affect carbonation and create excess foam.

Does this syrup work with dairy free milk alternatives like oat and almond milk?

Yes, Torani strawberry syrup mixes easily with oat, almond, soy, and coconut milk. Oat milk is especially popular for strawberry lattes because of its creamy texture, and the natural cane sugar and flavor pair well with plant based milks without any separation or graininess.

What is included in the box when I order the 4-pack?

The 4-pack ships as four 25.4 fl oz bottles of Torani strawberry flavored syrup inside a single outer carton. Nothing else is included, so you will want to have ice, sparkling water, milk, or your preferred mixer on hand to start using the syrup right away.

Is the syrup safe to drink past the printed best by date?

The best by date reflects peak flavor quality, and the preservatives help the syrup remain safe for some time past that date if the bottle is unopened and stored properly. Once opened, refrigerate the bottle and use it within a few months for the best taste, and discard if you notice any change in color, smell, or texture.

Does the bottle need to be refrigerated after opening?

Yes, Torani recommends refrigerating the bottle after opening to preserve the brightest flavor and color. The cold storage also slows any natural flavor degradation, so an opened bottle kept in the fridge typically stays fresh for several months of regular use.

What is the difference between a coffee syrup, a drink syrup, and a cocktail syrup?

In most cases, the term refers to the same category of cane sugar based liquid flavoring, and a brand like Torani is designed to work across all three uses. Specialty cocktail syrups sometimes include gum arabic or extra sugar for a richer mouthfeel, but the base formula and how you use it are essentially the same.
